1. Meta tag creation including title & description tags

The Meta Tags on a website are the first point of marketing on Google and search engines, you should include a homepage title tag and a description tag that describes the type of service you do.

The meta description gives you space to write a more detailed description of that page. It is recommended up to 70 characters is the maximum advisable length.

Below shows where the meta description appears within the Google search:

2. Get listed on local search engines and directories

Start with the main search engines like Google, Yahoo! directory and Bing, then add your business to local free listings in your area. You increase the potential customers finding your new website when you add yourself to more listings.

NOTE: Google & Yahoo! require you to sign up before you can submit your new website URL for listing.

With Social Media playing such an important part today in helping small businesses increase brand awareness it’s also a great place to gain business via referrals.

A Good place to start is Facebook & Twitter.

Google Places is a quick & free way to get your website listed on Google Search when a user searches for a type of business followed by the location where they are searching.
